In order to produce good quality alkaline ionic water at all times, the electrode plates inside the water cell chamber have to be clean - free of mineral deposit. Cleaning of the electrode plates are done in two ways, namely automatic and manual cleanings:
Automatic Cleaning
NRA Alkalizer comes with a pre-programmed Built-in Automatic cleaning to protect the water cell chamber for effective ionization. When the power stays on, at every 12 hourly timer, the LED blue light will "blink" continuously signalling the "automatic cleaning" mode is now set in. When the tap water is turned on, the Alkalizer will make the "beep-beep-beep" sound, and the Alkalizer now cleans its water cell chamber automatically for 40 seconds. After which the sound stops and the unit automatically returns to processing pH 10 water, ready to be collected for consumption when the LCD screen indicates pH 10. One automatic cleaning process is sufficient when the Alkalizer is used to process 20 litres or less of water daily.
It is not necessary to turn on the water tap to do the cleaning whenever the blinking signal is seen. Cleaning can be done right before processing the water for drinking.
Manual Cleaning
Manual cleaning is necessary when:-
- Automatic cleaning is insufficient or
- When electrical power supply is unplugged after use.
To perform manual cleaning, press the "STRONG ACIDC" button once, cleaning starts with the "beep-beep-beep" sound. Let manual clean lasts for 3-5 minutes per time. To stop manual cleaning and to resume collection of alkaline ionic water, just simply press the pH10 (Button #5) after desired cleaning time, and wait for LCD to show pH10. Frequent manual cleanings lengthen the life of water cells.
Do not drink the water from cleaning
While NRA Alkalizer is cleaning,
do not collect the water for drinking. However, the waters flow out from both Acidic Hose and Alkaline Hose are clean filtered waters and can be collected for external use like washing.
Bubbles in Container
Effective ionization of water produces plenty of tiny water bubbles, which can be observed visibly by holding the transparent container against light, immediately upon collection of alkaline ionic water from the nRA Alkalizer. These tiny water bubbles will vanish shortly, turning the slightly milky water into crystal clear, refreshing health water. When little or no bubbles are observed, perform manual cleaning process often.
Electrical Current Connection
NRA Alkalizer requires direct electrical current of 6 to 12 volts for its operation. NRA Alkalizer can be left plug-in to the electrical power supply for the whole day. It consumes very little power. Only a little LED blue light stays on when the Alkalizer is on "energy-saving" mode. In the event of going for a few days vacation, it is recommended to switch off the power supply for safety purpose.
Minerals Deposit in Water Container
The inner surfaces, specially the base of a water container may be coated with a thin layer of a sandly-like-substance after the container has been used to contain alkaline ionic water for a few weeks. This whitish or slightly brownish substance may roughen the surfaces of the container. This sandy-like-substance is actually minerals deposit resulting from reaction of carbon dioxide in the air and the ionic minerals present in the water. These ionic minerals in the alkaline ionic water are TOTALLY SAFE to be consumed.
For maintenance, simply pour some food-grade distilled vinegar into the said container. Let the vinegar come into contact with the mineral deposit for some time, until the deposit is dissolved. rinse the container with clean water. Repeat when necessary.
Changing of Filters
i. Changing of Antibac Submicron Filter (ASF)
When the flow rate indicator on the LCD screen shows less than 1.6 litres per minute, the ASF is clogged up with sediments and it should be replaced with a new ASF. Alternately, it is also strongly advised to replace the ASF when it has been in use for 2 year as the filtered content may be undesirable to health.
ii. Changing of Activated Carbon Filter (ACF)
There are 8 dotted bars in the Filter Life Span Indicator on the LCD screen. A dotted bar will disappear when 2,000 litres of tap water have been filtered through the system. Replace the ACF, when all 8 dotted bars have disappeared.
Step of changing ACF as follows:-
Reset the Filter Life Span Indicator
When a new ACF is installed, switch on the electrical power supply only (do not turn on the water tap). Press the "FUN" button until the word "CLn" appears on the LCD screen; press the "Set Up" button once, and the word "CLn" will blink, finally press the "Filter Reset" button once, and all 8 dotted bars will reappear in the Filter Life Span Indicator.
For every change of filter, it is recommended to let the water running through the system for about 3-5 minutes for cleaning purpose before collecting the first cup of water for drinking.
